Beat the Blerch! Did I sign up for a VIRTUAL?

Okay, so I know that I’ve said before that virtual races are not the kind of thing I’m into, but I had to make an exception.   

The Oatmeal recently created a race in Washington State called Beat the Blerch.  I of course can’t go to Washington to run it, and he offered a virtual option. I vacillated back and forth – I really want that medal, will I feel like I earned it – before biting the bullet one day before it was no longer an option and I signed up.  

 I’ve decided that I won’t put on or hang up the medal until I’ve earned it via a physical half-marathon, so I probably won’t earn this until January when I do the Celebration ½ Marathon.
